During the pandemic, Coastland Commons provided monthly space on Zoom for reflection and creativity. At each gathering, we offered a guiding reflection that set the tone for an extended amount of unstructured time for our community to engage their own creativity. Some wrote poetry, journaled, sketched, and painted; others played their instruments, read books, listened to music, or sat in contemplation.

We were so moved by the creative work that came from those evenings that we wanted to gather them up and share them more broadly. We are thrilled to announce that we have self-published our first book called “A Creative Anthology from Pandemic Times” full of our community’s creative work from this period!

We are offering the anthology for a suggested donation of $30 to help cover the costs of printing and to support the ongoing work of Coastland Commons; but, whatever you can pay is great (even if that is $0).

We Made An Album

Back in 2015, musicians from our community wanted to make an album. We spent a bunch of time reading and considering the Emmaus Road story in Luke 24. We then tried to write songs from the places where our stories intersected with the Emmaus story. This album is the result. Five songwriters and ten musicians contributed to the album. But, it was not just the musicians who made this album. This album was written in the context of a community and the people of that community are also to thank for its creation.

If you'd like to hear more about the music of Coastland Commons, shoot us a note. We'd love to hear from you.
